Ireland launches a new initiative to help people with disabilities get back into work
In Westmeath, people with disabilities are getting extra help in preparing for and finding work. The help comes through the ‘Personal Employment Pathway’ programme (PEP) launched by the National Learning Network (NLN) and co-funded by the ESF. The programme offers one-to-one assessment of individual needs and aspirations, career planning, job-seeking skills and training support.
“Our instructors will work with each person individually to identify their strengths, weaknesses and skill gaps before drawing up a tailored education and training plan,” explains Adrian Stewart, NLN regional manager. “We take a person-centred approach and put a strong emphasis on identifying and finding solutions to any personal barriers and challenges that are preventing the person from returning to employment.”
