Entrepreneurs in Latvia can get much-needed skilled personnel by training unemployed people themselves
With support from the State Employment Agency and the ESF, Latvian entrepreneurs can get help to train unemployed people to fill the specialist positions they need. In 2013, some 39 companies and 189 jobseekers took part, gaining skills in textiles, car/tractor driving, cooking and as electricians, among others.
During the training, participants receive a scholarship and employer commitment is ensured through their involvement in the selection process. The State Employment Agency concludes an agreement with each employer, which determines responsibilities and obligations, as well as the training to be given.
