Schools across Slovakia are being helped to develop inclusive teaching environments for Roma children
Slovakia is seeking innovative teaching solutions to help integrate young people from its Roma population. The nationwide project ‘Educating Teaching Staff to Include Marginalised Roma Communities’ has just been launched in 200 schools where more than 20% of the pupils come from disadvantaged circumstances. With ESF co-funding, the project will develop teachers’ ability to provide a better educational experience for some 22 000 children. Day-long teaching, hobby groups, support from expert teaching assistants and a range of other resources are being made available to build inclusive learning environments and innovative approaches for dealing with children from disadvantaged backgrounds such as Roma communities.
