Successful appeal by ministers increases applications for internships in Bulgaria
Speaking at a conference on youth employment, the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov and the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Totyu Mladenov, called for young people and businesses to take advantage of a new ESF co-funded programme to encourage internships for young job-seekers. As a result of their appeal, 2000 young people have already filed applications to take part, and more are doing so every day. As well as training opportunities and the chance to gain valuable experience, the programme offers interns wage support and social security contributions for a period of six months. Nearly 50% of young people who take part in such internships subsequently stay on as permanent employees.
