The highly successful Employment Aid Programme co-funded by the ESF is helping many people into permanent jobs
In Malta, an EUR 8.2 million work-experience programme for disadvantaged people is proving a great success. Run by the Employment and Training Corporation, the programme offers employers 50% wage-cost support to take on people facing particular obstacles to finding work and offer them a temporary job to gain experience. However, 2 025 participants have already been offered permanent jobs by their employers – an 85% success rate. Visiting a participating bank, Employment Minister Dolores Cristina praised the results and referred to the 21 people the bank had taken on, 14 of whom have already been engaged in full-time posts.
