Diplomas that work

In Gothenburg, an ESF training project has helped immigrants get the skills that are in demand

The successful ‘World Sellers’ project in Sweden is now distributing diplomas to its graduates – of whom 80 % have gone on into a job, further training or have set up their own businesses. The project is aimed at immigrant groups and takes an individualised approach to training while encouraging participants to continually re-evaluate their circumstances, possibilities and needs – the so-called ‘Ciekawy’ method. Vahid Hasarahi from Iran was a successful and experienced goldsmith there, but such skills are not needed in Sweden so he followed the 'World Sellers' programme and now works in an education company where his language skills are a great help.
