The Conference on anti-fraud and anti-corruption measures in relation to the use of European Structural and Investment Funds, took place on 3 December in Brussels. The event brought together more than 400 participants representing managing authorities, audit authorities, specialised anti-corruption bodies and civil society organisations from all EU Member States.
The objective of the conference was to showcase some tools and instruments which can help to raise awareness and identify fraud and corruption related risks. During the conference, good practice examples for mitigating fraud and corruption linked to the management of the EU funds were discussed. The timing of the conference could not have been better, as the new rules for the five European Structural and Investment Funds require authorities managing those funds to put more emphasis on effective and proportionate anti-fraud measures, identifying and tackling potential risk areas.
