29/09/2011 - 30/09/2011

The conference aims to discuss the territorial dimension of the ESF and its implementation mechanisms, particularly in the context of achieving the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy.

The conference aims to discuss the territorial dimension of the ESF and its implementation mechanisms, particularly in the context of achieving the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy. Topics discussed during the conference will highlight the multidimensionality of both the cohesion policy and the European Social Fund.

The conference will cover several issues related to the territorial dimension of the European Social Fund.

On the first day of the conference the discussion will focus on general issues related to the territorial and sectoral approach in the context of developmental processes. Panelists will try to answer such questions as: Which approach is more effective? In which regions or thematic areas the territorial and sectoral approach should be applied? How should territorialism be seen in the context of the European Social Fund? This plenary session will therefore be an introduction to a detailed discussion on the second day of the conference.

The second day of the conference will be divided into two main thematic blocks: Effective mechanisms of territorialisation and the Territorialisation of social policies in the context of the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy. There will be three parallel discussion panels under those two blocks. The first block will cover issues related to: practical mechanisms and instruments of territorialisation, the local capacity role in local and regional development, as well as the regional dimension of public policies. The second block will cover issues related to the territorial dimension of actions for the improvement of employment, aspects of territorialism in the context of inclusive growth and reduction of poverty, as well as the territorial approach to educational policy. The second block is therefore closely related to the social objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
