Croatia launches project for better foster care for children and young people
The Croatian Ministry of Social Policy and Youth has marked the start of an EU-funded project ‘Improving Foster Care of Children and Youth in the Republic of Croatia’. The project is run in partnership with the City of Vienna and the Austrian authorities. More than 40 representatives from children’s homes, social care centres, ministries, civil society organisations and international children’s organisations attended the event.
The aim of this project is to enhance the protection and well-being of children and youth by means of better foster care. The project’s activities include analysing current foster-care legislation, educating experts, and activities to promote fostering to potential foster families. The event also provided the opportunity to invite the representatives of all social-care institutions and NGOs to consider grant opportunities from the upcoming European Social Fund in Croatia.
