Umbria boosts work placements

23/05/2013

In Italy, graduates and disadvantaged groups in Umbria are being offered work placements with ESF support

The province of Umbria has launched a new programme to help graduate job-seekers and the disadvantaged unemployed. The ESF co-funded ‘Well Work’ initiative is offering six-month work experience placements in companies and other organisations which give participants the chance to acquire work-related skills for the future.

The placements are subsidised and participating employers from innovation clusters and research laboratories – which can offer places to graduates – are a priority. A further priority concerns those organisations that can offer suitable opportunities to disadvantaged groups, including women who are suffering in particular from unemployment in Umbria.

To encourage permanent jobs, organisations can also access large extra subsidies if a work placement is turned into a permanent job on completion. The EUR 1.5-million budget is divided equally between the two priority target groups.
