Routes to work opportunities

A European seminar promotes women's entrepreneurship in cultural tourism in rural areas

Part of the European Institute of Cultural Routes Initiative, the ‘Legacy of Al-Andalus Foundation’ in Spain presents the cultural and historical landscape left behind by the 800-year Moorish occupation of southern Spain – with the aim of boosting cultural tourism in the region. As part of its work, in early July the Foundation held an ESF co-funded seminar, together with partners from Portugal, Slovenia, Greece and Luxembourg, to discuss how rural women entrepreneurs can participate in boosting tourism and economic development along such ‘cultural routes’ across Europe. The meeting coincided with the publication of a best practice guide by the partners on how to boost employment in the field of cultural tourism, particularly for women and young people.
