Switching skills

Danish region is using ESF funding to help the long-term unemployed switch careers

In Denmark, 52 year old Åse Nors Andersen and 28 year old Pernille Snejstrup are currently completing their education as industrial technicians as part of the ESF co-funded ‘Qualifying for a new job’ project running in the Nordjylland region. The project targets the long-term unemployed – between 30 to 59 years-old and with previous industrial experience – with educational courses that allow them to get new skills and switch to different jobs. Anderson and Snejstrup both spent several years out of work and both women have just started out on the course which they expect to offer excellent job opportunities on completion.
