In Plovdiv, the ESF is helping to convince young Roma of the opportunities that educational qualifications can offer them
The Municipality of Plovdiv in Bulgaria is implementing the project ‘Education – for Equal Start’ in four schools including primary, secondary and vocational institutions. The aim is to make education more attractive to young Roma by involving them in a range of activities. These include additional teaching, job-related workshops, and guidance for pupils and their families on future jobs.
Training aids are provided to boost the participants’ skills in the Bulgarian language, numeracy and information technologies. The objective is to convince young Roma and their families of the opportunities that education and professional qualifications can offer them in their future lives.
