In Denmark, an ESF project is helping highly qualified job-seekers into work with local businesses

The South West Business Academy in Denmark is offering new opportunities to academically qualified job-seekers through its ‘Innovative Globalisation Agent’ programme. The Academy is cooperating with 15 local businesses, focusing on their business and skills needs – such as in competition analysis and market research – and transforming these needs into tailored training programmes for well-qualified job-seekers.

“The purpose of the course is to reduce the unemployment rate among academics. This purpose has been fulfilled in Esbjerg where almost half of the participants are now in a regular job, employed as knowledge pilots or employed with a wage subsidy”, explains Palle Mørkøre, project manager and trainer at the Academy. The success of the project is undeniable. Six of the 15 unemployed participants in the course are now in work.
