The ESF is helping unemployed construction workers to retrain for new sectors
In the Netherlands, the Trades Union FNV Bouw has received €160 000 from the ESF for its ‘Intersectoral Mobility’ project to help unemployed construction workers to find jobs in other sectors. During the economic crisis, unemployment in construction has risen to 55 000.
Three subprojects will soon start in different regions, each taking up to 50 participants. The other sectors targeted through retraining include the woodworking, food and metal industries.
