Germany targets wider childcare provision to benefit parents, workers and companies using Federal ESF funding
Companies and communities across Germany are being encouraged to help their parent-workers by using ESF funding to set up day-care facilities for young children.
The Federal ‘Day Care Programme’ aims to develop and expand a win-win model for employing child-minders on a permanent basis. It will offer the child-minder the security of a permanent position, the parents the opportunity to balance work/life demands, and the employer the benefits of retaining skilled workers in fulltime posts while boosting loyalty and productivity. Furthermore, by linking these parties together through the country-wide project, it is expected to give a boost to the professionalisation of childcare provision and improvements in quality standards.
Overall, the project will contribute to the 39% shortfall in childcare provision seen nationwide in 2012.
