The ESF is supporting Latvia’s regional social services for a variety of target groups
Latvia has kicked off 56 new ESF projects in the first quarter of this year for developing social services in its regions. The planned social services cover a broad spectrum including social rehabilitation and new social institutions, such as crisis centres, health-care centres and sheltered housing for the mentally disabled. Through the selected projects, the aim is to support over 9 500 people with these new services drawn from groups such as victims of violence, the homeless and people approaching retirement. Help is also planned for carers and those looking after seriously ill family members.
