Craft training is offering young Italian job-seekers a set of valuable and traditional skills
Back to traditional skills is the watchword of the ESF co-funded craft projects that are seeing great success in the Marche region in Italy. Falling employment in sectors such as construction has led to a new emphasis on traditional skills as a way into employment and entrepreneurship for young people.
For example, two recent ‘craft shop’ projects enabled 40 young participants to follow work placements with companies active in textile design and manufacture. And the new ‘Factory’ initiative is placing young job-seekers with micro-artisan enterprises that mix tradition with innovation and can offer valuable ‘niche’ skills to job-seekers.
