Greece extends ESF funding for day-care centres

With ESF support, the Greek government is extending funding for the provision of day-care centres for elderly citizens and people with disabilities. There are 68 day-care centres for the elderly across the country employing 276 workers and helping over 1500 older citizens. Similarly, 48 centres are provided for the disabled helping some 1100 people and employing 460 care workers. Announcing the funding extension, Interior Minister Stylianidis stressed the importance of leading the war on poverty in a time of financial crisis that is hitting the weaker social groups hardest.
