Greece launches five employment initiatives to offer jobs and opportunities to jobseekers and entrepreneurs

Greece is launching a series of ESF co-funded initiatives to help over 30 000 unemployed citizens to find work or set up their own companies. The programmes cover a range of sectors and particular situations, for example to help young people get work in the tourism sector, to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, or for local authorities to set up and implement new plans for employment. Already, the local employment initiatives run through the TOPSA programme have helped 8367 jobseekers find work, and has places planned for a further 14 000.

The innovation and entrepreneurship programme is offering 2000 young jobseekers with bright ideas the chance to set up in business with grants of €10 000 each. The initiatives form part of the National Strategic Reform Framework and are aimed both at less-favoured social groups, such as the long-term unemployed, as well as those with the potential to launch new businesses offering employment opportunities.
