A treasured Chest

In the Czech Republic the ESF is supporting a community initiative for socially excluded youngsters

In the Příbram region a facility for children and young adults called Bedna (Chest) has just celebrated its third anniversary. Over three years, the Chest has been visited by 700 young people aged 11 to 20 looking to spend their free time, but also for support and assistance when they need it. Young people can come for a piece of advice or just to find someone who will listen to their problems. The project is a social initiative offering life-skills coaching and support to those who face social exclusion. Twice a year the Chest is also open to public. Visitors have the opportunity to watch a short video made by the children to tell more about their activities and their community. The Chest was established by the Ponton civic association and is co-financed by the ESF.
