Students to learn from professionals in Slovakia

19/05/2017

An ESF funded project is providing students with professional experience in Slovakia.

The National Institute of Voluntary Education has organised a ‘dual education’ system, which allows students to undertake apprenticeships in a professional environment. Employers of many vocational backgrounds are involved in the project.

Instructors are seen as key to the project’s success. They are responsible for quality of the training given to students. The project is based on a similar model used in Austria and Germany. It increases the chances of employment for future graduates. In this school year, there are 998 students and 380 employers involved. The project was recommended by the foreign chamber of commerce and industry associations in Slovakia.

The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund. It aims to have helped 12 000 students with 700 trained instructors by 2020.
