Helping out those in need in Bulgaria

A social service is providing personal assistance for the elderly and people with disabilities in Bulgaria.

The project is located in the municipality of Sliven. It supports increasing part time social service activities in both the community and in a family environment.

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of life of participants and make social services more accessible. It currently works with 305 participants, who are helped by 117 personal assistants. It is intended to help people with disabilities and people over the age of 65, who are restricted by age related limitations. These groups can be susceptible to social exclusion and poverty; the project is combatting this.

The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund, which is contributing EUR 729 138.78 to the overall fund of EUR 857 810.32. The project is running for 22 months and will end in December 2017.
