An ESF transnational internship project has given young Germans the chance to experience different working cultures
Since 2009 a total of 180 young people have passed through the German transnational AliSchwa project, gaining valuable experience through visits to Sweden and Spain. Open to young jobseekers in the Black Forest region, the project offers seven-week internships abroad preceded by a preparatory period which includes language training.
As well as the technical skills gained by working in foreign companies, the participants also gain important insights into living and working in a different culture. “I got used to the lifestyle very quickly, such as late evening meals and the warmth of people’s greetings,” says participant Chris Pischulti who praised the intensive working atmosphere and interactions with Spanish colleagues.
