In Vienna, a programme for young people is encouraging them to get formal qualifications as well as practical skills
Project Spacelab in Austria is offering new horizons to young people who have encountered difficulties getting a first foothold into professional life and work. Hosted by the Production School Vienna, the Spacelab helps young people plan their future careers and gives them a foretaste of working life through workshops and practical training sessions. Horticulture, creative skills and multimedia are among the courses on offer, in addition to more formal classes in German, mathematics and English.
The Spacelab is supported by the ESF and the Vienna Employment Promotion Fund (WAFF), and the intention is to open others, including only for girls. Tanja Wehsely of the WAFF explains that equal access to education and work in Vienna is not a slogan but a programme.
