An ESF work-placement project for older job-seekers in Slovenia is taking a longer-term approach to ensure sustainability
Slovenia is taking steps to help its older job-seekers get back to work. The new ‘50plus’ active employment programme is targeting people over 50 years old who have been registered as unemployed for over six months, as well as the employers who could help them. By offering potential employers EUR 8000 of subsidies for periods of 18 months, the programme aims to give the older workers the time they need to integrate fully into their new jobs – building motivation, aspiration and career development.
In this way, the Ministry of Economic Development and Employment believes that the almost EUR 7 million investment from ESF funds will have the most impact on ensuring sustainable jobs while reducing regional employment disparities and helping disadvantaged job-seekers.
