The Czech Republic is supporting more diverse childcare provision to help working parents

The ESF is supporting working parents in the Czech Republic who have difficulties finding a place for their children at overcrowded state nursery schools and who cannot afford a private one. ‘Children groups’ are being set up, often by employers directly at the workplace, so as to help working parents save time in the mornings and have a chance to visit their kids throughout the day. The key driving force behind the initiative is to ensure a smooth and timely transfer from maternity leave back to a job. Groups comprise seven to 24 children and care providers can be employers, schools, local administrations and non-profit organisations. External providers of childcare are excluded from participating to ensure that new jobs are created.
