Wales extends project to support people with substance misuse issues at work
The ESF in Wales is expanding its ground-breaking ‘Peer Mentoring’ project which raises awareness of substance misuse issues in the workplace. The project offers post-treatment support for people who have received help from substance misuse services and who are currently economically inactive. Training and development opportunities are available and the ultimate aim is for participants to achieve economic independence through paid work. Since its launch in 2009, the project has proved highly successful. Among the 4700 participants so far, 600 have acquired formal qualifications, 441 have gone on to formal training and 514 have found a job.
