In Bulgaria, the ‘Public Laundry’ will create jobs for 22 disadvantaged people
The ESF in Bulgaria is supporting the launch of a social municipal enterprise in the town of Kyustendil, which will provide 22 jobs for local people. The ‘Public Laundry’ will open its doors in 2012 as part of the ‘Let’s Help Ourselves’ project. With EUR 120 000 of funding, the Public Laundry aims to give jobs to people from vulnerable and disadvantaged groups – such as the disabled, ethnic minorities and those leaving care institutions – and to help them enjoy independence. With modern equipment, the laundry will serve hotels and schools, as well as private citizens. The municipality has committed to supporting the laundry for a further five years after the project ends – and it is expected to become a profitable enterprise.
