The Canary Isles open a new Alzheimer's care centre in Granadilla

The Municipality of Granadilla in the Spanish Canary Islands has teamed up with a regional carers association (ACUFADE) to boost the support offered to Alzheimer’s sufferers – both those with the disease and those who care for them. A new ESF co-funded centre is offering physiotherapy, memory training and stimulating activities to people who need help to perform simple everyday tasks. The project is also a source of support for carers and families, stressed the Councillor for Social Affairs, Ana Esther Flores Ventura, who highlighted that: “This service promotes family autonomy and offers some respite from their care burden. It supports those families in Granadilla in need of such services.”
