EPIC success for immigrant jobseekers

07/11/2012

A successful training scheme in Ireland has given 222 immigrants the practical skills that helped them to find work

The Irish Justice and Equality Minister, Alan Shatter, has welcomed an announcement that a government-supported programme has helped hundreds of immigrants in the country to get jobs. Some 222 have found work in the ESF co-funded EPIC programme run by the Business in the Community Ireland organisation. EPIC brings government, businesses, state agencies and NGOs together to help immigrants find work. Focused on training, the programme covers language, IT and interview skills as well as information on integrating into Irish society. Advice on entrepreneurship is also covered explained the Minister, as a way of tapping in to the talents that many immigrants have and which needs a helping hand to flourish.
