A Romanian project is helping cancer sufferers at work with help from an Italian partner
A cancer diagnosis can bring more than just medical consequences – it can blight lives of sufferers at home and at work, and these aspects must also be considered when supporting people to live with this disease. In north-eastern Romania, an ESF project run by two health-care organisations is doing just this with help from an Italian partner:the Associazione Oncologica Senigalliese Valli Misa e Nevola. The project has set up a regional support centre and published guide for employers to help them support their workers suffering from serious diseases. Psychological counselling as well as social and legal support have been offered to 350 people so far.
