Social mobility brings social success

The mobile provision of social services in a Latvian region has proved a successful model for emulation

The ‘Mobile Social Services Resource Centre’ project implemented by the Vidzeme Region in Latvia is proving an attractive example of good practice to other districts. The ESF co-funded project provides a range of social services to inhabitants of the region close to their own homes. These include help for 18 social rehabilitation support groups, workshops on developing employment skills and individual training on e-skills to help social inclusion. Initially limited to one district in the region, the positive feedback from participants has led seven other districts in Vidzeme to request the same services which will run until October 2013.
