ESF support for better emergency planning in Romania
In Romania, a new ESF co-funded project is focusing on improving the capacity to respond to disasters and emergencies. The authorities in the counties of Alba and Sibiu, together with the National Disaster Management Centre, are implementing the project, which involves using information technology systems to manage and evaluate risks and improve decision-making by public authorities before and during emergencies. Critical infrastructure – such as rail, bridges and buildings – are a main focus, while training for over 100 people on the IT systems and in strategic and operational planning are also envisaged.
