Innovative childcare network in Aachen, Germany, is offering trusted support to young mothers’ careers
Many young mothers need support to balance careers and family responsibilities. But who can they turn to when they have an urgent meeting, or a last-minute change to teaching schedules – who can they trust with their children? The ‘Young mothers at work – supervised kids’ project in the town of Eschweiler is testing out a solution. The project brings local childcare providers into a network. Young mothers are invited to meet the providers face-to-face, in individual meetings where trust is built, so that they have the confidence to turn to the childcare network when needed. Already, around 20 young mothers have taken advantage of the project’s services.
