For young people aged between 16 and 29 in the East Ayrshire area of Scotland, UK, finding work recently became a little easier thanks to the East Ayrshire Youth Employment Initiative (YEI).

YEI, a project funded by the ESF and delivered by East Ayrshire Council, offers young people a range of support including wage subsidies, pre-employment training, transitional employment and accredited vocational training.

YEI targets young people who are not in employment, education or training, including those who were "work-ready", or almost work-ready, with high motivation and a relatively high skill level, as well as those with significant barriers who need more intensive support.
