Who is behind EPALE?

EPALE is an initiative of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture(DG EAC) of the European Commission, who are committed to making it a permanent feature of the European adult learning landscape.

Overseen by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency  (EACEA), EPALE is managed on a day-to-day basis by a Central Support Service (CSS) who can be contacted via email at helpdesk@epale-support.eu (link sends e-mail) or call the EPALE helpdesk on +44 (0) 121 212 8934.

Since autumn 2014, National Support Services (NSS) have also been working alongside the CSS, helping to populate EPALE with interesting and unique content and animate the community.

What is the Central Support Service and what do they do?

The Central Support Service (CSS) is a consortium of two organisations, Ecorys UK and Intrasoft Ltd, who work together to develop and manage EPALE. The CSS works in conjunction with the EPALE National Support Services, adult learning experts and adult learning stakeholders to provide current and relevant content to the platform. The CSS also manages the EPALE Helpdesk, sends a monthly newsletter, manages social media communications, uploads content, initiates and manages discussions and holds thematic events.

Who are the National Support Services and what do they do?

The National Support Services (NSSs) have been appointed by the national authorities of the countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme to help create content for EPALE and animate the platform. They work closely with the Central Support Service (CSS) to publish high-quality site content and encourage user contribution. NSSs also focus on bringing EPALE to the adult education community in their countries and motivate their communities to participate in EPALE. 

The NSS for EPALE receive co-financing from the Member State governments.

How can I contact a National Support Service?

 It is recommended that for any country specific queries you contact the relevant NSS directly or the CSS if there is no NSS in the country you would like information about. 

How is EPALE funded?

EPALE is funded by the European Commission as part of their overall strategy promoting adult learning.

NSSs are also co-financed by Member State governments. EPALE is supported under article 14.1.b of the legal decision adopting the Erasmus+ programme. It also plays an important role in the achievement of the goals set out in the 2011 Council Resolution for a Renewed European Agenda for Adult Learning and Education and Training 2020.

Can I promote EPALE to my colleagues/other stakeholders?

Yes. EPALE is an open membership platform, enabling you to connect with other adult learning professionals, practitioners and volunteers across Europe.

EPALE is an online community built around a wide range of useful educational resources, news, blog posts, events, thematic pages and networking tools, with high-quality content identified by experts in the field and translated into key languages. 

What if the information I am looking for isn’t on the EPALE website?

If the information you are looking for is related to adult learning, but is not on the EPALE website, then please contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@epale-support.eu. Our Helpdesk staff are supported by a pool of thematic experts on adult learning, who can provide assistance in six languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish).    

Did you know that you can also publish your own content in EPALE? You can upload 4 different types of content: a blog post, a news article, an event or a resource. There is an online form for each of these types of content. These forms are located in each of the relevant sections which can be accessed from the homepage here.

Please complete the online form and save it. You will receive an online message and an email confirmation. Your content will be saved as a draft and then be quality checked by the Central Support Service. You will be notified when your item it is published. You can access all your published content on your profile page which can be accessed by clicking on your name located in the middle ribbon. Remember that you need to be a registered member and be logged in the platform. We look forward to publishing your content! 

How can I get involved with EPALE?

EPALE aims to build a unified adult learning community on a national and European level. When you join EPALE you can communicate with different adult learning actors such as trainers, policy-makers and volunteers.

As a registered member of EPALE you can discuss ideas and share information with other people in your country or in Europe, working with your sector. The platform is perfect for finding partners or sharing experiences and ideas related to your adult learning project. You are also able to upload and share events, resources, blog posts and articles (including policy documents and relevant materials produced by projects) with others throughout Europe. To ensure that the information available on the site is of high quality, checks are carried out on content submitted by users prior to publication. All users are notified when/if their content is published.

How is EPALE different from other adult learning information sites?

EPALE is a virtual meeting place for adult learning practitioners and organisations at European level. The site has a number of unique features:  

  • Open membership
  • Multilingual content including best practices, news, policy developments, blog posts, events and resources
  • A searchable pan-European calendar of courses and events of interest to adult learning professionals
  • User-led content
  • The option for users to identify, rate and share interesting and relevant materials, tools and resources

How is EPALE different from eTwinning?

eTwinning facilitates collaborative work between schools, teachers and pupils, and organises events for teachers' professional development. EPALE aims to build an online community for the adult learning sector and adult learning professionals.

It is also important to note that, unlike eTwinning, EPALE does not offer the possibility to twin classes, as classes do not exist for adults in the same way as they do in primary and secondary education. However, adult education professionals can debate current themes and share best practices in the EPALE Communities of Practice

How does EPALE relate to the Grundtvig programme?

The Grundtvig programme was part of the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme from 2007-2013. It supported individuals and organisations involved in non-vocational adult education to participate in European training activities and projects.

EPALE was born out of the need expressed by Grundtvig stakeholders to have a space for exchanging ideas and practices in order to develop their professional practice. Grundtvig events and networks offered a space to discuss the idea of EPALE and start its development.

Networks and projects supported by the Grundtvig programme are encouraged to register as users of EPALE. However, EPALE also hopes to reach other adult learning professionals who are not already involved in European projects.

The EPALE platform offers interactive features, enabling users to link with others all around Europe, engage in discussions and exchange good practice. The site also publishes/refers to resources created under Grundtvig in the library of resources. Projects are encouraged to publish their events and share any good practices or resources they have created on the platform.

EPALE also offers communities of practice which provide users and stakeholders with a dedicated area on EPALE to hold discussions on relevant themes and share relevant content. EPALE has a Partner Search where users can look for potential partners. EPALE also offers Collaborative Spaces. These are areas on EPALE for users to discuss potential project ideas, develop applications and share documents.

How does EPALE relate to Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020, which aims to increase the quality and relevance of qualifications and skills. It supersedes the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) and the Grundtvig (Adult Education) programme.

Erasmus+ is open to students, teachers, apprentices, volunteers, youth leaders and people working in grassroots sport. It also provides funding for partnerships between educational institutions, youth organisations, enterprises, local and regional authorities and NGOs, as well as support for reforms in Member States to modernise education and training and to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and employability.

The Erasmus+ programme funds EPALE through Key Activity 2; it is supported under article 14.1.b of the legal decision adopting the Erasmus+ programme and focuses upon adult learning and continuing education and training (C-VET).

What is the EPALE definition of an adult learning professional?

The term ‘adult learning professional’ encompasses a wide range of people and organisations (including networks, groups and volunteers) who work in the adult learning sector. These can include:

  • Adult learning providers (including employers, universities, NGOs, etc.), teachers, trainers, trainee teachers and volunteers;
  • Academics, students, researchers;
  • National adult learning infrastructure, networks and organisations;
  • Funded projects and partnerships or those seeking funding;
  • Policy-makers at national and European levels.

What is EPALE?

EPALE is a multilingual open membership community for teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, policy makers and anyone else with a professional role in adult learning across Europe.

EPALE is funded by the European Commission, as the latest development in an ongoing commitment to improving the quality of adult learning provision in Europe. You can read more about the EU policy on adult learning here.

Community is at the heart of EPALE. It is set up around the sharing of content related to adult learning, including news, blog posts, resources, and events and courses.

Members of the community can engage with adult learning colleagues across Europe through the site’s features including online discussion and debate, communities of practice, rating content and commenting under blog posts.  You can also interact with your peers across Europe through the Thematic Areas which provide structured content according to topic and by requesting a collaborative space i.e. a private space within EPALE which allows you to have discussions, upload documents, share news and highlight relevant events in the specific group calendar.  You can also find projects and make professional connections using the Partner Search.

What is the EPALE definition of adult learning?

EPALE subscribes to the Council of the European Union’s definition of adult learning as stated in the 2011 Council Resolution on a renewed European agenda for adult learning: “the term adult learning covers the entire range of formal, non-formal and informal learning activities — both general and vocational — undertaken by adults after leaving initial education and training.”

I am an adult learner – what does EPALE offer me?

EPALE targets those who deliver and organise adult education rather than learners themselves.

You can still visit the platform to find out information about adult learning across Europe. If you wish to engage in learning activities, here are a few ideas you may want to consider:

  • Contact the education service in your city;
  • Look at possibilities offered by associations, universities, language schools, museums, libraries, etc. in your city/region;
  • Talk to your employer;
  • Contact the organisations which deal with adult learning in your country. The European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) has a vast membership of adult learning organisations in Europe which you can contact;
  • Make the most of the internet, e.g. of the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). Please visit the Open Education Europa Portal to search for MOOCs in Europe;
  • Check Euroguidance, a network of centres linking together the Careers Guidance systems in Europe;
  • Look at information and analysis of European education systems and policies on The Eurydice Network;
  • Check Ploteus, which provides information about courses, work-based learning and qualifications.

I am an adult learning professional – what does EPALE offer me?

EPALE was set up with you and other learning professionals in mind, to help you learn from each other and develop your professional practice. The site is aimed at teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, policy-makers and professionals working within the adult learning sector across Europe.

EPALE has lots of really useful tools including a calendar of events, the latest news on adult learning, a blog, a library of resources, discussion forums on a variety of themes and a partner search facility.

EPALE also has several communities of practice which provide users with a dedicated area on EPALE to upload documents, start discussions, share news and events around a particular area of adult learning.  If you can’t find a community which meets your needs then why not set up a new one by submitting a request online.

In order to be able to exchange teaching materials and good practice, as well as ideas and resources, with others throughout Europe you will need to register to EPALE.

I represent an adult learning project – what does EPALE offer me?

The EPALE Resource Centre holds over 3000 resources including good practices, pedagogical material and research results, which you may find of interest for your project. You can also upload any events related to your project to the EPALE Calendar or share important news in the Newsroom.

EPALE also has several community features including:

If your project is funded through the Lifelong Learning Programme or the Erasmus+ programme, your project results should be uploaded to the Erasmus+ Dissemination Platform. Please note that questions related to the Erasmus+ Dissemination Platform itself should be addressed to your National Agency. All other projects can submit resources for direct publication in the EPALE Resource Centre  with a link to their website. Please note that the proposed resources will be quality checked to ensure they are appropriate for referencing in EPALE.

I am part of an adult learning network/organisation – what does EPALE offer me?

EPALE offers lots of really useful tools which can assist you in your day to day work and raise the profile of your network/organisation across Europe.

Through EPALE  you can  publicise your conferences, courses and seminars in the online calendar. Events included in the calendar are also disseminated through EPALE’s social media accounts (see section 1.10 How can I keep up to date? for further information).

There are also several community features which may also be of interest to you:

  • Thematic campaigns- enabling users from across Europe to come together to debate and share information on important adult learning topics.  Participating in these discussions raises your organisations profile across Europe; 
  • EPALE Communities of Practice, where users can come together to discuss and share ideas around a specific area of adult learning.  Again, participating in these online communities enables you to raise the profile of you organisation with other users. If you can’t find a community which meets your needs then why not set up a new one by submitting a request online.

In addition, EPALE also offers a partner search facility where you can look for potential partners or create your own request. As part of the EPALE Partner Search you can also request a Collaborative Space. This provides an area on EPALE for you to discuss potential project ideas, develop applications and share documents, without cluttering your inbox.

I am an academic – what does EPALE offer me?

EPALE provides a repository of over 3,000 adult learning resources including information on research results, statistics and survey results, as well as sector-specific reports and findings which may be of interest to you and assist you with your work.

The EPALE Calendar also includes information on courses and events, including high-level conferences, which you may be interested in attending.

In addition, EPALE also offers you the opportunity to network, share ideas and discuss important topics with other users from across Europe. Make sure you register in order to be able to comment and rate topical blog posts. You can also submit your own blog posts, events, news items or resource (e.g. reports, research papers etc.). EPALE has over 11,000 registered users and on average 41,000 visitors each month so by writing for EPALE and uploading content you can easily reach a wide European audience.

I represent an adult learning organisation seeking funding – what does EPALE offer me?

Although EPALE does not provide funding, the platform has a newsroom section where funding opportunities related to adult learning are published. You can find out more about these by visiting the website of Erasmus+, the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020, which aims to increase the quality and relevance of qualifications and skills.

EPALE has a dedicated a thematic section about European policies, project and funding where the latest information can be found.

I am a policy maker involved in adult learning – what does EPALE offer me?

Since May 2016, EPALE has offered a policy tool which has been developed by the European Commission.  The purpose of this tool is to bring together existing data on adult learning and continuing vocational education and training (CVET) and provide a point of reference for monitoring performance and policy developments in adult learning policy. The aims of this toolkit are as follows:

·To show the progress of individual Member States in implementing effective adult learning policies;

To provide a tool for policy-makers to identify where they need to make further progress to implement and improve their policies;

To be considered as a knowledge base to help Member States develop and monitor the effectiveness of their adult learning policies;

To provide an overview of Member States’ performance in increasing participation in adult learning; and

To provide a publicly accessible source of information to other stakeholders interested in the field of adult learning.

In addition to this, the EPALE Resource Centre holds over 3,000 resources including good practices, pedagogical material, research results, etc., which you may find of interest for your policy development and discussions

There are also various interactive features, including the discussion forums which allow you to seek and identify good practice from professionals in Europe. Multilingualism

In what languages is EPALE being offered?

EPALE is available in the 24 languages of the EU and each language version has unique content, curated by our national teams across Europe. However, EPALE can now be accessed in 67 more languages thanks to the newly implemented Google Translate feature.

What did potential EPALE users say about multilingualism?

EPALE conducted a user survey in April-May 2014 to find out the views of about the proposed EPALE features. The survey yielded 1,914 responses from 37 countries and indicated that the majority of respondents were comfortable using English. However, EPALE is a multilingual site and the main pages of the platform are be available in 24 languages, with some key information provided in the main 6 EU languages (English, French, German, Italian, Polish, and Spanish).  

A ‘pop up’ poll was launched in September 2015 to consult users with regards to how they see EPALE’s future development.  EPALE users could complete the poll only once and were asked:   “How would you like the EPALE site to evolve in the future?” The two possible answers were:

  • More content translated into more languages, such as news, events, blog posts and resources
  • More focus on community features such as Partner Search and discussion forums

The poll received feedback from a total of 1,237 users. The responses were split almost equally with a prevalent slant on having more translated content. 57.6% of the respondents said that they would like to have content available into more languages while 42.4% said they would prefer more focus on community features.

A second user survey was also conducted in May 2016. The survey explored how EPALE respondent had found out about the platform, reasons for visiting EPALE, how often they used the platform and the quality of the information provided. 1,171 responses were received by the end of the survey period. Over two thirds of respondents (68%) involved in the survey were satisfied with the amount of content. Furthermore the majority (94%) of EPALE respondents felt that the themes on the platform were appropriate and relevant.  

Events/calendar

How can I find out about events on adult learning?

The EPALE Calendar provides information on adult learning events at European and national levels. These include conferences, seminars, workshops, contact seminars, general events, training courses, MOOCs and much more. You can search for events by language, location, date, type of event, related theme, and type of organiser.

Can I post an event to the calendar?

If you know of, or are organising an event (conference, event, training session, courses, MOOCs, etc.) for adult learning professionals please upload your event using our online form here. Please note that your event needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Is the event related to adult learning (including C-VET)?
  • Does the event target adult learning stakeholders only (i.e. not learners)?
  • Does the event address one of EPALE’s main themes?

Once you have completed all the fields click on ‘save’ and an acknowledgement message will be displayed. All events submitted are checked by the CSS or the relevant NSS. If further information is required, you will be contacted. When your event has been published you will be notified via email.   

How do I find a particular event?

To find a particular event, you can use the multi faceted filter facility on the Events page here. You can also type the name of event on the search box on the homepage to find the event you are interested in. Click on the title of the relevant EPALE event to access all the information. You can narrow the results by using the filters provided.

Can I filter events?

Events can be filtered by:

  • Country
  • Language of the event
  • Theme
  • Target group
  • Type of event
  • Cost of attending
  • When the event is taking place (including past events for reference purposes)

More than one filter can be applied in order to tailor your search requirements.

Can I search for events?

Yes. To find a particular event you can do an advanced search and include language and location in the search parameters.

How can I find out about training courses for adult learning professionals?

The EPALE Calendar provides information on training courses at European and national levels, including online events. You can also search for events by language, location, key word, date, type of event, related theme and type of organiser.

How will I know if an event is cancelled?

Occasionally events are cancelled due to low numbers or unforeseen circumstances. Please note that the European Commission cannot be held responsible for the cancellation of any events in the EPALE calendar. Users are advised to check individual event websites regularly to ensure that they are aware of any changes to the event.

Registration

Do I need to register to access EPALE?

No, but if you want to use all the EPALE features – save your searches or use the interactive services, such as email notifications, eNewsletter, etc. – you can register (free of charge) at link.

How do I register to become an EPALE member?

In order to make full use of all the EPALE features like the Partner Search and User Directory, participating in our interactive features such as discussions, polls and rating content; and suggesting and uploading news items, events, blog posts and resource, you will need to register.  It’s quick and easy to do and is free of charge! Join today to become part of a community of over 20,000 adult learning professionals. 

I tried to register and the username I have chosen is not accepted.

It is possible that another user has already selected the username you have chosen. Before trying to register again with a different one, make sure that you have cleared the memory and the disk cache in your browser. Then choose a different username and password, and once you have signed up an automatic registration email will be sent to you asking you to validate the address. I have forgotten my password

If you have forgotten your password you are able to reset it by clicking on the Request new password option on the login page of the EPALE website.

An email will be sent to you asking you to reset your password. You will be asked to enter your new password twice as well as a captcha (Completely Automated Public Turing test – this is to avoid spam). Enter all the details and this will log you onto the EPALE platform with your new password.

Technical requirements

Which browser should I use?

EPALE aims to make information available to the widest possible range of users and does not recommend the use of any particular software packages. We try to support the current versions of the most popular range of browsers in the marketplace and to take advantage of new technologies available within them. We recommend that you ensure that the latest version of your browser is installed.

We require that JavaScript is enabled in your browser. For certain web services, Java and pop-ups may also need to be enabled.

Is EPALE W3C compliant?

EPALE follows certain web standards, such as HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0 Transitional, CSS 2.1 and WAI A levels. These standards have been created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to improve accessibility to the internet.

EPALE survey

What was the purpose of the survey?

The EPALE survey was launched on the 23rd of May 2016 and run for 4 weeks. The survey explored how EPALE users had found out about the platform, reasons for visiting EPALE, how often they used the platform, quality of the information provided and the themes of interest to them. 1171 responses were received at the end of the survey period.

Who replied to the survey?

Of the 1171 responses received, the majority (63%, 740) were adult learning training providers, responses from other EPALE target groups ranged from 1%-8%. One fifth (20%, 237) of the responses were users based in Italy who also have the highest number of registrations. 

What were the key findings from the survey?

Overall, the findings indicate that:

  • EPALE users involved in the survey had generally found out about the platform at an event. The second most popular route was by ‘word of mouth’.
  • Overall, almost all (94%) of EPALE users felt the themes on the platform were appropriate and relevant, and over two thirds (68%, 794) users were satisfied with the amount of content.
  • EPALE users involved in the survey were largely satisfied with the quality of the information provided on the site and the speed of the site. Over 70% of users involved in the survey had rated both areas as ‘good’.
  • EPALE users involved in the survey were more likely to visit the site to find practical information. Over half (53%, 624) visited the site for that reason. Only a small proportion (19%, 225) however visited to take part in online discussions. A large proportion (75%, 878) had not participated in community based activities.
  • Time constraint was a major factor in respect to how often users visited the platform. In addition, some users indicated that they were likely to visit more often if they could either access practical resources from tutors that could be used for training sessions, or access tools or tips that they could use while teaching.
  • Users were generally not aware of the benefits of logging in, and therefore were more likely to browse the site without logging in. Over two thirds (69%, 804) of the users involved in the survey either browsed the site without logging in, or sometimes did so.
  • The ‘Partner Search’ feature was rarely used by EPALE users involved in the survey. Just over half (52%, 608) had not used the ‘create a partner search request’ and a slightly lower proportion (45%, 528) had not used the ‘find a partner’ function. 

Partner search

Can I find partners for my projects?

EPALE offers a partner search facility to exchange ideas and create networking opportunities with individuals or organisations. Nearly 400 organisations are registered to the Partner Search with a monthly average of over 14 000 page views and 115 000 page views since it was launched.

You might not know it yet, but you may be the ideal partner for someone else’s project. If you like the idea of getting involved in collaboration with your peers and adult learning colleagues, you can make yourself visible to others seeking partners. Just make sure you ‘opt in’ to be included in the Partner Search when you complete your profile. This means that when other EPALE members search the User Directory for potential partners, your profile will be included in the search results. 

You can also add your organisation details by completing the online form here. Once you have done this you will be able to add a partner request. To find partners you are also able to browse through the partner requests already uploaded on the site. In order to contact potential partners, simply log in to EPALE.

Can I use the EPALE website to disseminate my project results?

The site offers a repository of resources. EPALE members are invited to exchange news, views, ideas and resources (including project results) with others throughout Europe.

To become an EPALE member you need to register on the site. For further information on how to register please see registration.

Can I announce/advertise my courses/workshops/trainings?

EPALE offers you the opportunity to publicise your conferences, courses and seminars in the online calendar, and build your organisation’s profile across the EU. Events included in the calendar will also be disseminated through EPALE’s social media accounts, which include Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Please complete the ‘Suggest an event’ form here. The information submitted will be saved as a draft on EPALE and will be sent to the CSS for review. Before being published to the EPALE calendar, all events undergo a quality assurance procedure. Further information on your event may be requested. You will be notified when your event is published on EPALE.

How is content structured on the EPALE website?

Everything within the site is organised around five important adult learning themes:  Learner Support, Learning Environments, Life Skills, Quality and Policy. Each theme has several related subthemes which bring together all the content available on EPALE. Each subtheme page provides access to blog posts, resources, news articles, events and related discussions.

EPALE is a community platform and hosts several community features including: thematic online discussions, enabling users from across Europe to come together to debate and share information on important adult learning topics. EPALE Communities of Practice are areas where you can discuss and share ideas around a particular area of adult learning.  If you can’t find a community which meets your needs then why not set up a new one by submitting a request online.

In addition, EPALE also offers a partner search facility where you can look for potential partners or create your own request. As part of the EPALE Partner Search you can also request a Collaborative Space. This provides an area on EPALE for you to discuss potential project ideas, develop applications and share documents, without cluttering up your inbox.

Can I contribute to the EPALE website?

As a registered user, you are able to suggest news articles, blog posts, events and  resources. You are also able to rate content by clicking on the ‘thumb’ icon, comment directly on blog posts and initiate and take part in discussions. You can also join an EPALE Community of Practice, where you can exchange ideas and challenges and discuss outcome and approaches with other learning professionals around a specific topic. Alternatively, if you are part of a project or are thinking about setting a project up and need a space for private discussions, you are also able to request a Collaborative Space.  

EPALE is a multilingual website – If I submit content to the site do I have to translate it into English (or the other five languages) myself?

You are able to submit information in your own language and depending upon the type of content (e.g. a news item, article, blog, report, etc.) it may be translated using machine translation or a professional translator if it is deemed of interest to the wider EPALE community.

EPALE is available in the 24 languages of the EU and each language version has unique content, curated by our national teams across Europe. However, EPALE can now be accessed in 67 more languages thanks to the newly implemented Google Translate feature.

How do I upload a resource?

Did you know that you can also publish your own content in EPALE? If you have a resource you would like to publish, upload it using our online form. Please note that to upload a resource you need to be registered and logged in EPALE. Further information on how to complete each field is provided on top of the page. Once you have completed all the fields click on ‘Save’ and an acknowledgement message will be displayed. You will also receive an email with a link to the resource you have uploaded. Your resource will then be checked by the Central Support Service and you will be notified when it is published.

How do I upload an event?

How do I upload a blog post?

If you would like to publish a blog post (sharing your views, reporting on a specific issue or an interview related to adult learning) and would like to engage in discussion with other organisations from across Europe, complete our online form. Once you have completed all the fields click on ‘Save’ and an acknowledgement message will be displayed. You will also receive an email with a link to the post you have uploaded. Your article will then be checked by the Central Support Service and you will be notified when it is published.

How do I upload an image?

Relevant images can enhance the message of any content published. If you would like to upload an image with to the content you publish in EPALE (blog post or news article) EPALE provides you with a feature to upload media. Please follow the instructions in the question How do I upload a news article? or How do I upload a blog post?. The editing menu on the online form provided allows you to upload an image. Click on the media icon to open a new box to upload an image. Please note that the size restriction is 200 MB.

How do I re-size an image?

EPALE offers the option to upload images for your blog posts and news articles. To upload an image follow the instructions on the question How do I upload an image?. Once your image is uploaded right click on it and click on ‘Image properties’. This will open a dialogue box where you can manually write in the width and click on ‘OK’ to save it. The width of a blog post or news article is 780.

How do I search for content?

To search for content on the platform, type in a related word or the specific title of the content you would like to find in the search box located on the homepage and click on the magnifying glass. This will open up a new page where you can filter results by date, relevancy, title, author, content type, language and country.

How do I request a collaborative space?

If you have set up a partnership or are establishing a partnership, a collaborative space is the perfect space for you to discuss potential project ideas, develop applications and share documents, without cluttering up your inbox. You can request a Collaborative Space on the partner search area.You will be asked to provide a name for your group and provide information about the purpose of the group, the EPALE theme it relates to and the target audience. You will also ask to provide a contact name who will act as the main moderator of the space. Once saved, the Central Support Team will check your request and contact you. How do I join a community of practice?

Firstly, you can check the Communities of Practice which are already established in EPALE by going to the Communities of Practice section here. If you are interested in joining any of them click on the ‘Subscribe to group’ title underneath the description. A new page will be displayed asking you to confirm that you wish to join. Once you confirm you will also receive an email. If you can’t find a community which meets your needs then why not set up a new one by submitting a request online.
