Structure and content of WFD CIRCA

The CIRCA system provides a number of tools of functionalities, such as a library or a calendar, which are called "services". All these services were used for the WFD CIRCA Interest Group. Each service is described below, in particular the "library" since it represents the most comprehensive element of the WFD CIRCA system.

'Information': this service enables the link to internal and external web pages. The current section includes general information on the Water Framework Directive, on the common strategy and on the functioning of the interest group itself.

'Library': the library service stores various final/draft/working documents with relevance to the different groups of the common strategy. The structure of the library follows closely the thematic issues identified in the Common Implementation Strategy. An overview of the current structure is given in a screen shot. In order to get full access to the library, a set of criteria was laid down on whether you are allowed to apply for access or not.

A considerable amount of information is publicly available in the WFD library. You do not need a username nor a password to download a lot of useful information. The sub-structure of the public WFD library part is shown in the following screen shot.

'Directory': the directory service stores all the information details of the different users/experts participating in the groups under the Common Implementation Strategy.

'Meetings': this service of the interest group provides the means to store information on forthcoming/past meetings relevant to the Common Implementation Strategy.

'Newsgroups': The newsgroup service provides the means to discuss in an interactive manner specific issues and interests. However, no newsgroup have been established as yet.

'Email': this component is a regular email service, that offers the advantage of having direct access to the email addresses of the interest group members.

'Help': this service offers a context sensitive on-line help that you can consult whenever you have questions regarding the use of the different services.
