The Working Group on Groundwater under the Common Implementation Strategy of the Water Framework Directive is collaborating with the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO on exchanging information and ensuring that the recommendations on good groundwater management practices are disseminated properly. Of particular interest in this respect are the methodological guides, guidelines and reviews concerning groundwater contamination and trans-boundary aquifers which are available on the IHP-UNESCO site. These are especially relevant to the current drafting of the EU technical guidance documents on the implementation of the future directive on groundwater.

Other links are being established with stakeholder organisations through Working Group C which represents the industrial and agricultural sectors and civil society.
