28/10/2016 : Launch of a public consultation on policy options to set minimum quality requirements for reused water in the European Union
This consultation will be open until 27 January 2017. It aims at collecting additional information and evidence and giving the possibility to a broad range of stakeholders to provide views, feedback and perceptions on how the minimum quality requirements for reused water in the European Union should be set. Guidelines on integrating Water Reuse in water planning and management published
Water reuse can be a valuable measure to achieve the objectives of the WFD in a more Circular Economy, in particular in situations of water scarcity. As such, water reuse should be appropriately considered in water planning and management. For this purpose guidelines were developed by the Commission, Member States and stakeholders, based on existing experience.
25/05/2016:The European Environment Agency and the European Commission have published the Report on European bathing water quality in 2015
As usual, the report is based on data from the previous bathing season, so this year's report is a compilation of data gathered in summer of 2015, indicating the quality of bathing water expected in 2016. This year’s review covers more than 21,000 bathing water sites across Europe. While 96 % of bathing sites met the minimum requirements, more than 84 % met the more stringent ‘excellent’ level.

Call for Evidence on the economic benefits of EU water policy
The Commission is looking for empirical evidence, studies and concrete feedback on the economic benefits of EU water policy and the costs of non-implementation with a view to launching an open call for tenders for contracting a study, which aims at generating new and solid economic arguments to promote effective protection and efficient use of water resources for the well-being of European nature and citizens.
