European Commission seeks views on combined transport

23 May 2014 – 15 August 2014

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on combined transport, a form of goods haulage that combines road transport with alternative modes such as rail and water-based transport. Combined transport aims to improve the environmental performance of freight transport and reduce traffic congestion by limiting road haulage as much as possible and using alternative forms of transport for the majority of the journey. DG Climate Action seeks views on the EU ETS post 2020 carbon leakage provisions

8 May 2014 – 31 July 2014

The aim of this consultation is to canvass opinions on different options for a system to avoid carbon leakage after 2020 for sectors covered by the EU Emission Trading System (ETS). The results of this stakeholder consultation will feed into further work on the 2030 climate and energy policy framework regarding the determination of post-2020 rules on free allocation and carbon leakage provisions in the EU ETS. Responses to the questionnaire will also serve to stimulate more focused discussions during the stakeholder meetings to be held later this year. All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation. Contributions are particularly sought from industry stakeholders, trade unions, non-governmental organisations and public authorities. Read more…

 

European Commission seek views on biodiversity protection initiative

The European Commission is undertaking an online consultation to seek public opinion on a future European Union (EU) initiative that aims to halt biodiversity loss. The consultation seeks the views of public authorities, business, non-governmental organisations and interested citizens on a future EU initiative on No Net Loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. DG Environment seeks views on the evaluation of the implementation of the EU Ecolabel Regulation

25 April – 18 July 2014

Directorate-General (DG) Environment is carrying out a consultation exercise to inform an evaluation of the implementation of the EU Ecolabel Regulation. This will be done via a two-stage approach. The first stage involves evaluating the EU Ecolabel implementation to date since 2000, in terms of its efficiency and effectiveness in contributing to sustainable consumption and production (SCP) across Member States, and its coherence to other policy tools. The second stage will assess how the Scheme and alternative scenarios might perform in the future, based on development of potential change in the regulations for future implementation. The European Commission’s strategy on CSR 2011-14: achievements, shortcomings and future challenges

20 April 2014 – 15 August 2014

The European Commission launched this public consultation to receive feedback on the implementation of its most recent policy on corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR is defined by the Commission as ‘the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society’. The Commission encourages enterprises to ‘have in place a process to integrate social, environmental, ethical human rights and consumer concerns into their business operations and core strategy in close collaboration with their stakeholders’. DG Energy seeks views on energy efficiency policies and measures

3 February 2014 – 28 April 2014

Directorate-General (DG) for Energy is inviting the views of stakeholders and the general public on Europe’s progress towards the energy efficiency objective set for 2020. It also seeks views on the issues relating to energy efficiency policy for 2020 and 2030. Feedback received in response to this 12-week consultation will be used to establish targets for future energy saving policy. Read more…

DG Competition seeks views on environmental and energy state aid for 2014 – 2020

18 December 2013 – 14 February 2014

The European Commission, Directorate-General Competition, is gathering opinions on a proposal for revised state aid guidelines for assessing public support projects in the energy and environment fields. The Commission proposes to extend the scope of existing guidelines beyond the environmental field into the energy area, and to clarify and simplify the assessment of state aid measures. Contributions are particularly sought from national authorities dealing with state aid rules, but all public authorities, citizens, companies and organisations are welcome to participate. DG Environment seeks views on how to tackle marine litter

25 September 2013 – 18 December 2013

The European Commission is inviting views on a range of actions and policies, which could be undertaken to tackle the problem of marine litter more effectively. Contributions are particularly sought from those working in waste management, plastics production and recycling, fisheries and shipping, as well as any other stakeholders with a responsibility for tackling marine litter. DG Environment seeks views on the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive

2 December 2013 – 24 February 2014

The European Commission, Directorate-General Environment, is inviting comments on the implementation of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE) Directive (2007/2/EC). The consultation is being held seven years after the Directive came into force to assess whether actions being taken to establish a spatial information infrastructure are still on course to meet the Directive’s objectives. Views are sought from stakeholders including INSPIRE national contact points, regional and local public authorities who produce or use spatial data and services, the academic sector, the private sector and European citizens. DG Enterprise and Industry seeks views on sustainability support for SMEs

20 September 2013 – 12 December 2013

The European Commission, Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry, is inviting views on the most effective support measures for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enable them to become more resource efficient and sell green products and services. The results from the consultation will be used to shape the actions aimed at promoting resource efficiency for, and by, SMEs to be included in the forthcoming Green Action Plan. DG Environment seeks views on the sustainable use of phosphorous

8 July 2013 – 1 December 2013

The European Commission, Directorate-General Environment, is inviting views on how to use phosphorous more sustainably. It has issued a Consultative Communication, which is intended to draw attention to phosphorus use and to initiate a debate on the actions that should be considered to make sure it is available for future generations. European Institutions and other interested stakeholders and citizens have until 1 December 2013 to comment on the issue. Read more…

 

DG Energy seeks views on energy labelling and ecodesign

31 August 2013 - 30 November 2013

The European Commission, Directorate-General Energy, has launched a consultation on the Energy Labelling Directive and certain aspects of the Ecodesign Directive.
