This is the second large conference organised by the PEF World Forum, which is an initiative by Berlin-based think-do-tank THEMA1. Last year, 150 experts gathered to discuss carbon and environmental footprinting. The highlight of the PEF Food Conference in May will be the presentation of the selected EU Environmental Footprint Pilot Projects for food, feed, drink and related products (for example, fertilisers, food packaging and catering services). Attendees are expected from manufacturers, producers and processors, policy makers, consumers and environmental non-government organisations.
There are a number of confirmed high-profile speakers including – Michele Galatola, DG Environment, European Commission; Nicolas Martin, EU Sustainable Consumption and Production Food Roundtable, and the European Feed Manufacturers' Federation (FEFAC); and Martin Bortzmeyer, Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France.
