The conference is being hosted in conjunction with the Catalan Waste Agency (ACR) and aims to give participants a broad outlook on the recent trends in waste prevention. The opening speech on ‘Waste prevention policies in the EU’ will be given by Gunther Wolff from the European Commission.
The topics under discussion include recycled products and carbon footprint, the use of economic instruments and waste management performance, and meeting the world’s energy, materials, food and water needs. The workshop will also look at waste objectives in CO2 terms, waste prevention and management from a climate change point of view, and EU glass recycling in a resource-efficient society.
The keynote speakers are Pere Fullana, Director at the ESCI-UPF international business school in Barcelona; Dominic Hogg, Chairman of the UK waste management consultancy, EUNOMIA; and Markus Zils, Co-leader of the Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice at McKinsey & Company.
