Why apply for a Natura 2000 Award?

The benefits of applying for a Natura 2000 Award are multiple and include the promotion of your work to a wide audience, as well as a chance to win one of the six Natura 2000 Awards.

Applying for a Natura 2000 Award can bring you multiple benefits. Applicants of eligible applications will have their work promoted on the official Natura 2000 Award website. A key incentive for applying is therefore the professional recognition of your efforts and the visibility you will gain from taking part in this high profile annual competition. Your efforts to helping protect Europe's most valuable species and habitats will become better known to a wider audience and showcasing your success story will also provide inspiration for others who manage and promote Natura 2000 sites.

In addition, all finalists will be invited to attend the Award ceremony in Brussels next May. This provides an exciting opportunity to meet high level Commission figures, experts from various organisations working on Natura 2000, representatives of other interested stakeholders and organisations and networking opportunities with other finalists and winners.

The winners of the five category awards and the Citizens' award will each receive a specially-designed and attractive trophy, along with a small financial contribution to help support their future conservation efforts. Winners will be invited to write a short article on how they spent the prize money, which will be published on a webpage dedicated to that winner. The Commission will also help in the organisation of local promotional events in the winners' countries.

So all in all, it is a big opportunity for you to get the recognition you deserve!
