The winners from the five Natura 2000 Award categories will be invited to a high-level ceremony in Brussels, where they will receive a trophy, along with a small financial contribution to help support future conservation efforts. The Commission will also help in the organisation of local promotional events in the countries of each of the winners.

As well as honouring the work of the five category winners, the award ceremony will positively promote the Natura 2000 network to a wider audience. The aim is to raise awareness of the excellent work being carried out across the network. Showcasing success stories should provide inspiration for others who manage and promote Natura 2000 sites.

A further incentive for participants will be the professional recognition of their efforts and the visibility they will gain from taking part in this high profile annual competition. Winners will also receive logistical and financial support to help organise local promotional events in their home countries, with the presence of high level representatives from the Commission.

Winners will be invited to write a short article on how they spent the prize money, which will be published on this website. All travel expenses of the winners for the participation in the ceremony will be met by the Commission.
