Description

Small wader (L 20 cm), with conspicuous white supercilium. During the breeding season, Dotterel occurs mainly on alpine grassland or rocky ground with sparse vegetation. Birds feed on insects. Migrant.

Reasons for the need for protection/inclusion in annex I

The main threats for the species are loss of habitat due to alteration in mountains (the construction of ski stations, tracks, urbanization) and illegal hunting.
