Habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation have by far the largest impact on both threatened and non-threatened reptiles, affecting 22 of the 27 threatened species, and 98 species in total. The number of species impacted by habitat loss and degradation is nearly three times greater than the number impacted by the next most common threats: harvesting, deliberate persecution and pollution (here including global climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions).
