The objective of this seminar is to highlight the problem of electrocution and collision of birds, espacially protected birds (Birds Directive), with overhead power lines and poles. The seminar will focus on the implementation of measures proposed by two LIFE projects (LIFE06 NAT/E/000214 and LIFE04 NAT/ES/000067).
The project "Correction of Dangerous Overhead Cables in Special Protection Areas for Birds in the Region of Murcia" (LIFE06 NAT/E/000214) aimed to implement the strategy devised by the Regional Government of Murcia to adjust overhead cables to the conservation needs of 5 SPAs in the Natura 2000 regional network. To this end, cooperation agreements with the main electricity companies were foreseen, including the integration of preventive measures in the design and installation of new overheads cables for transport and distribution, as well as training courses for technicians.
The seminar is organized by this project. For more information, see the project website. To register, please fill in the programme's registration form (in Spanish) by 28 November, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
