LIFE+ Background

In this page, you will find some background information about the LIFE+ programme and its adoption.

The LIFE III programme (Regulation (EC) 1655/2000 of 17.07.2000) and its extension (Regulation (EC) No 1682/2004 of 15.09.2004) finished at the end of 2006.

Now, the new Financial Instrument for the Environment, LIFE+, provides opportunities for funding: a total budget of €2.143 billion for the period 2007-2013.

LIFE+ Regulation

The LIFE+ Regulation (EC) No 614/2007 was published in the Official Journal L149 of 9 June 2007.

Implementing decisions

Implementing decisions are adopted by the European Commission according to Article 14 of the Regulation.

LIFE+ Committee

The LIFE+ Committee is made up of representatives from the Member States. It takes implementing decisions to assist the Commission according to Article 13 of the LIFE+ Regulation.
