These projects represent a total investment of €1.2 billion, of which €570 million has been contributed by the EU.
Since 2014, the traditional LIFE projects have been accompanied by a new sub-programme for Climate Action (focusing on Climate Change Mitigation, Climate Change Adaptation, and Climate Governance and Information). The new LIFE programme has also been expanded to include several new types of projects - integrated, technical assistance, capacity-building and preparatory projects, and operating grants - as well as two new financial instruments, the Natural Capital Financing Facility (NCFF) and the Private Finance for Energy Efficiency (PF4EE) tool.
