Legislation in force

The texts of EU legislation in force are available via  EUR-Lex - the portal to European Union law  under the heading  "Legislation" (Please remember to check there too for details of any modifications/corrections to this legislation!)

To find environmental legislation in general, select "Legislation in force" and then Chapter 15 Environment, consumers and health protection

To have the full text and annexes/tables of a particular piece of legislation, go to the Legislation page  then enter the year, reference number and type of document and click on the magnifying glass icon. Once you have the search results, you should then select PDF version or, for older legislation where a PDF format is not available, the TIF Image. The PDF version is available immediately but the TIF Image is sent (normally very quickly) by e-mail.

Pending proposals for legislation

Summaries and texts of pending environmental proposals, communications and reports (COM and SEC documents) can be found on EUR-Lex. 

General overview

A general overview of EU environmental policy can be found on the SCADplus database.

Implementation of legislation

The Annual Report on Monitoring the Application of Community Environmental Law and the Annual Survey on the Implementation and Enforcement of Community Environmental Law are available in our environmental law section.

The EUR-Lex Portal has been developed to provide a common point of departure for online consultation of all sectors of EU law. Access through this integrated service offers search facilities across the four main information products and services covering EU legislation, CELEX, EUR-Lex, EUDOR and Curia, at any or all of its procedural phases. Links are also offered to other online information sources such as the Prelex or the European Parliament's Oeil.
